‘What is unsettling but also beguiling about Hartmann Rasmussen’s work is that in confronting her own inner demons with wit, imagination and cultural intelligence, she also gives us access to our own’ - Emma Crichton-Miller
Malene Hartmann Rasmussen studied at the Royal Danish Academy before relocating to London and earning an MA at Royal College of Art in 2011. Her work has featured in numerous exhibitions in the UK and abroad, including at Vehbi Koç Foundation, Mesher, Turkey; Michelangelo Foundation, Italy; Fondation Bernardaud, France; and CLAY Museum of Ceramic Art Denmark. In 2018 she was awarded a residency at the V&A, where she produced a body of work inspired by the oeuvre of 16th-century French potter Bernard Palissy.
